GPU enhanced VLC, new Eyefinity features

ATI has released its anticipated new Catalyst drivers for all of us who were unfortunate enough to get stuck at work rather than on a Mediterranean beach

As we wrote previously, the 10.7 release offers several interesting features, including GPU acceleration for H.264 content in VLC Player 1.1.1 Player. The pull-down detection algorithm has also been overhauled so it should deliver superior quality on certain types of video content, but it’s only supported by new Radeon HD 5000 Series cards

CrossFireX has also been tweaked and now it supports rotated displays. We're told that this could prove handy in some flight simulators

The Linux community wasn’t forgotten, either. ATI's new Catalyst 10.7 Linux drivers support Ubuntu 10.04.

You can get the new drivers here, although you would be better off with a beach towel and some wet, salty sand under your toes
